![]() ![]() The daughter of Mephisto - and a very powerful demon in her own right - found Inarius intriguing, because she too believed that the Eternal Conflict was pointless. He tried to convince his brother Tyrael of this, but neither Tyrael nor any of the other members of the Angiris Council saw things this way.Īs the war continued, Inarius was ambushed by a host of demons… but being completely fed up with the conflict, he started ranting about how pointless it all was. From Inarius’ perspective, there was no point to fighting it at all. But eventually he came to feel that the whole thing was pointless - by definition an “eternal” conflict never ends, and neither side could win or lose. Inarius was originally a true believer in the Eternal Conflict, just like the other Archanges. These unlikely cohorts met in battle as both fought in the Eternal Conflict that raged between Angels and Demons. Inarius, Lilith, and the creation of Sanctuary and the Nephalemīefore you can understand exactly what happened in this Diablo 4 trailer, we need to cover some backstory. ![]() Let’s dig into their history and examine the tantalizing hints we can tease from this trailer. The latest Diablo 4 trailer gives us our first look at Lilith and Inarius together… and it doesn’t look like a friendly reunion. So what exactly happened between Lilith, the daughter of the Prime Evil Mephisto, and Inarius, the Archangel who rebelled and walked away from the endless war? Without Inarius and Lilith, the world of Sanctuary may have never come into being, the Eternal Conflict would have continued in its endless stalemate, and the world of Diablo would be completely different. It spans the creation of Sanctuary, the creation of the Nephalem and their Human descendants, and the endless Eternal Conflict. There are many directions developers could take the story, with many plot holes to be filled. The angel Inarius and the demon Lilith both appear in the latest Diablo 4 trailer, but the two have a complicated history. Other options for expansion content could follow the unresolved plot point of Lorath Nahr being seen by Prava as a heretic who was the cause of Lilith being set free. Lilith's warnings of other Prime Evils and even Diablo himself possibly returning could be foreshadowing either an expansion or possibly the next entry into the series. There is no official word on what the future expansions will cover, but with the way the ending of Diablo 4 was left, it is likely that DLC and expansion content will cover the ongoing story of Neyrelle leaving to follow her own journey with Mephisto's confined Soulstone in hand. Future expansions will be where the rest of Diablo 4's story is fleshed out. Therefore, if someone were to miss a season, they would not be missing a chunk of the story. Blizzard has already confirmed that the game will have ongoing seasons connected to its battle pass service every 3 months, but although the seasons will feature more story content, the stories involved with them are said to be short, unique questlines that are not directly connected with the main narrative of the game. ![]() The ending of Diablo 4 has many unanswered questions. Though players witness her crumbling to dust following her battle with the player character, it is left to be seen if she is truly gone from the series or if she will make a return as several other Diablo characters have in the past. Players are then faced again with Lilith herself at the end if Diablo 4, where she becomes enraged and a boss battle within the Throne of Hatred takes place, ultimately leading to Lilith's defeat. Neyrelle takes this Soulstone filled with Mephisto's essence and leaves on a journey with it. Ultimately Neyrelle realizes that Mephisto is quite possibly a larger threat to humanity than Lilith is, and binds his essence to a Soulstone which was meant for Lilith. Because of this interruption, the player and Neyrelle make it to Mephisto first. Ultimately, while on her way to see Mephisto, Lilith comes face to face with Inarius, and after they engage in battle, she kills him while he was in a moment of hesitation. In Diablo 4, Inarius wants to stop the player from trapping Lilith in a Soulstone as he believes that his killing her instead will give him the glory he needs to be welcomed back to the heavens. Lilith and Inarius have had a long history of love and hatred. ![]()
